Through nutrition counseling, Emily’s ultimate goal is to provide you support with implementing diet and lifestyle changes that last. She helps you navigate the challenges of daily life, such as travel, dining out, waning motivation, and work demands, to build lifelong habits. She teaches how to balance your favorite foods with healthy living so that good nutrition becomes a seamless part of your everyday life.
Emily graduated Summa Cum Laude with Honors in Anthropology from the University of Iowa. Her interest in chronic disease prevention and healthcare led her to study public health in Copenhagen, Denmark. Then, after recognizing the vital importance of food and adequate nutrition in reversing disease and maintaining health, she went on to obtain a Masters in Nutritional Science from San Diego State University. There, she published peer-reviewed research studying the effects of genetic testing on psychology and health behavior.
To earn her credential as a registered dietitian nutritionist, she completed intensive Medical Nutrition Therapy training and 6 months of rotations in clinical nutrition, community nutrition, and food service. As a part of the medical team, Emily provided Medical Nutritional Therapy (MNT) for patients in a wide-range of departments, including cardiology, gastroenterology, oncology, trauma, and rehabilitation.
